WLM Featured Fridays

April 6, 2018

Another week done in the books. At this point in my life Fridays are one of the few things I look forward to and of course one of those reasons being well…you know…

Featured Fridays of course! Just when I thought this week was going to be a slow one for metal, a bunch of singles and new names popped up that we definitely would love to share with y’all. Every week is like a game. What talent do we have for you this week? Let’s take a stroll through the metal land shall we?

Purest Of Pain may sound familiar to some of you. If you know symphonic metal outfit Delain (a favorite around here) then you may know guitarist Merel Bechtold. She is also the lead guitarist and founding member of Purest Of PainNow you know she is in both Delain and Purest Of Painas well as MaYaN whom was started by Epica member Mark Jansen. I could say it’s a small world but perhaps pleasurable coincidences may be a better term. She is perhaps one of the best female metal guitarists on the scene currently. Overall though this track is heavy as hell. Keeping with heavy but adding a side of melody and metalcore, England’s Skies In Motion bring some bounce and shall I say Melodjent?

Dark, doomy and deathy, Barren Earth were a band I couldn’t see myself getting into initially, but don’t knock it until you try it, as the saying goes. Their track The Ruby almost reminds me of Paradise Lost meets Amorphis. An interesting track, I’ll tell you that. On the other hand, a band I could really see myself getting into are Follow The CipherTheir hard electronically charged track, Valkyriais all manners catchy, memorable, unique and groovy. I think fans of Amaranthe will dig this one.

I think it’s time to hit the bars this weekend wouldn’t you say? Cheers mates! Stay Metal \m/
