The day’s are slowly getting longer minute by minute day by day. Unless the earth gets blown up or knocked off trajectory, this cycle won’t change. You know what else won’t change? The continuous appearance of new bands, that’s where we come in.

This past week, I had a conversation with an acquaintance in which he had found an album that he encountered while streaming some music. Though the album was a few years old, ‘better late than never’ as the saying goes. When you find someone that takes a dip into the metal side who normally doesn’t, it really puts a grin on ones face. Let’s hope he converts to the dark side.

In all seriousness, we’ve got a heaping of metal, some from afar and some from anew. Spaniards, Light Among Shadows, inject the listener with some dark yet melodic goth metal. Fans of Sirenia, KatraKrypteria and similar bands I think will connect with them easily. Also on the Latin metal charge, Lefutrayget groovy and extremely thrashy with their track Labyrinth. If you love this track, I highly recommend the rest of the library, it’s pretty intense all around. Caliban has a good number of years under their belt yet fans claim their sound has significantly changed. On a personal level change is good and essential for growth and survival but to each their own. These Germans certainly are part of the metalcore movement that has had a stronghold throughout Germany and parts of Europe.

Kalmah have a very solid grasp on the melodic death metal side. The longtime Finnish metallers are celebrating their 20 year anniversary this year. You can almost always count on a metal band from Finland to deliver quality and sometimes more. Last but not least, for those who crave something on the more modern scale, something along the lines of djent/post-hardcore, Heruin are going to adrenalize your metal spirits high. Check em’ out! Stay Metal \m/
