WLM Featured Fridays

February 23, 2018

The metal train has yet to lose any steam. We bring metal from various countries and though that’s not totally what Featured Fridays is about we just can’t help but give some spotlight to the most worldwide genre of music. That’s right, it’s always a reoccuring fact that metal has no one place on this planet. It’s everywhere and statistics show that metal fans are the most supportive and dedicated fans out of any genre of music. At the end of last year, two genres of metal made it onto Spotify’s top 10 emerging genres of 2017. As you can see, metal isn’t going anywhere and neither are Featured Fridays.

Ethno metal is a sub-genre I recently discovered. It’s basically a mix of Melodic metal which meets Symphonic metal with some underlying Folk elements that originate from the Balkan region in Europe. PLEMЯ bring some pretty tasty Ethno metal, check em’ out. Italians and somewhat of a familiar name, Sinheresyreleased their addicting Power/Symphonic track, Domino with some faint electronic elements added. The heaviness gets taken a few notches up as Death metallers Monotheist present The Grey King featuring Christian Älvestam whom has most notably fronted the metal band, Scar Symmetry. A heavy, heavy track indeed. Initially, when I started to listen to Scarlet CanaryI was a little skeptical. But I’m a person of chances so the wait time was very much worth it on their very hard offering of Antidote. I was hooked! But if you want something unusual, you may want to take a poke at DrescherThey are signed with Napalm Records so you know they are on one of the biggest metal labels out there. But to make matters short the best way I can describe this track is power metal meets polka. I’m sure it’s been done before but they take something already existent and pair it with something unexpected so thinking outside the box is always respectable especially when executed proficiently.

Let’s see what other metal cats appear next week! Stay Metal \m/
