If you took the term “Desert Rock” and added the soul of a kindred spirit you would come up with what Zodiac has created. You normally wouldn’t find a band like Zodiac on our radar but after listening to the band’s new album “Grain of Soul” I knew you (the reader) had to be exposed to them. From the opening track “Rebirth by Fire” to the closing title track you have time for private reflection or pool parties with friends. This album will have multiple meanings to multiple people; in fact that meaning could change listen to listen. That my friends is good music and the reason why ZODIAC is our band of the week. – Martell
Press Release: Grain Of Soul – the fourth full length album by the riff-laden German rock four piece Zodiac, is their most graciously focused effort to date, between the obscenely relaxed desert guitar sounds and melodies bigger than the horizon, Zodiac have triumphed upon their return. Recorded, mixed, and produced by Arne Neurand (Guano Apes, etc.) at Horus Sound Studio in Hannover, and mastered by Grammy Award winning Jean-Pierre Chalbos (Gojira, etc) at La Source Mastering in Paris, the backdrop for this mature rock manifesto flirts heavily within the multiple genres of hard rock, from stoner, to grunge, to alternative, Grain Of Soul ultimately succumbs to one thing only: a timeless collection of songs from a band that seem to have found their ultimate artistic freedom.
