Guns & Roses #6
May 1, 2009

West Arkeen. For someone who considers himself a music buff I'm a little embarrassed to admit I have never heard of the man. West was considered in the Metal scene to be the sixth member of Guns & Roses. He was so tight with the band in fact that he was able to sit down and write with the self made legend Axl Rose.

West contributed on songs like "Its So Easy", "Crash Diet", "Yesterdays," and several others. Back in the day it wasn't uncommon to see West on stage with the boys playing Slash's riffs. Insiders say he was an "amazing guitarist that could think on his feet."

West was in a few other bands such as Drunkfux with Izzy and Duff, but his main efforts went into a band called Outpatience. Outpatience released an album in Japan that did ok, so well in fact the album was on the verge of a major US label. The album featured cameos from some of his good pals. Axl, Slash, Duff, Izzy all participated in the album as the Illusion albums were being written at the same time.

Sadly we will never know the true potential of GNR's sixth man as he died from a drug overdose in May of 1997. His last credited work was on Duff's solo album "Believe in Me."

The Live Era album was dedicated to this unsung member so the boys and the music world will never forget this amazing musician.
