Pretty Maids

Pretty Maids Can Clean My House!

Pretty Maids Pandemonium So if you're a band from the early 80s and you managed to still like your band mates and haven't died from a lethal drug addiction what's the next step in your career now that its 2010? Easy answer, make a new album and rock the hell out of it!

Pretty Maids have done just that. Their new album "Pandemonium" comes out on May 14th through our friend Dustin Hardman and Frontiers Records. We have been privileged to give it a listen a little early and let me tell you Pretty Maids has come to the table with some pretty special tunes this time, but we will get into specifics later - first some background.

The band is from Denmark and formed in 1981 with Ronnie Atkins on Vocals and Ken Hammer on Guitar. Ken actually has sponsorship deals with ESP and ENGL Amps so the respect for his talent is obviously there. Other members have come and gone over the years but Ronnie and Ken have been the Pretty Maids constant and I think that hard work is going to pay off.

Pretty Maids is known for such songs as "Back to Back" and "Hell on High Heels," but surprisingly never reached the level of commercial success that one would have thought for a band with such talent. With that being said the band toured with the likes of Sabbath, White Snake, Alice Cooper, and even appeared on the German Monsters of Rock festival where Metallica headlined. They certainly have some credentials, 12 studio albums including "Pandemonium" and 2 live albums. The success was there but being a household name has seemed to pass the band over.

I personally think that's about to change. Pandemonium features some great tunes like "Little Drops of Heaven" (found on the daily video), the power ballad "Breathless - even with the chorus repeated that many times its still pretty good. My favorite is "Cielo Drive" that just destroys any preconceived notions you might have of the band. This song just rocks plain and simple.

The landscape of music right now is ripe for professional musicians that have a past and know how to get it done. With the reconciliation and success of bands like Motley Crue, White Lion, Extreme, RATT - its Pretty Maids time to shine.

You can check out song samples at myspace.com/pmaids and then run out and buy the album. This is a band that deserves the success in North America they have craved.
