One of the greatest interviews I have ever done for the site was an interview with former Black Dahlia Murder drummer Shannon Lucas. He was genuine, down to earth, and really concerned about the quality of the music he played.
I have to apologize for being a bit late on this highly anticipated release, but you see I walked through a swamp of deep sludgy metal and when I came out on the other side Death Valley Driver shoved me back in for another ride.
Is it obsession? Maybe… But I dare you to listen to the new Orchid’s Curse album “Words” and not become a headbanging mess. The chops of the album could only be added to with a visual interpretation and I’m happy to give you that today.
This isn’t as much a review as me marvelling at the incredible story of the band Shining. They are classed in the metal circle as an “Avant Garde” metal act. The truth is these Norwegian’s can’t really be classed as anything.
This is going to be more of a spotlight than a review. The reason? This German band absolutely fascinates me. They have taken punk attitude and blended it with the mainstream sensibility of nu-metal, however they have the performance chops of brethren Rammstein.
Thanks for doing this Cole and lets just go right into it. July 2nd will see the release of the full length album “Something Fierce.” What can new fans of the band expect if this was their first taste of Sanktuary? Glad to be of service. Evil! Thrash! Booze! HEAVY METAL.
Considering I have been listening to 13 literally non-stop since I got my media copy I thought it was fitting to following my glowing review with a top ten of my favorite Black Sabbath songs. I know this one is controversial at the best of time, but I’m going to make it worse.
