Friday Faceoff – “Heavy” Frontman Tournament – Jeff Waters (Annihilator) vs Attila Dorn (Powerwolf)

October 5, 2012

Powerwolf Heavy Metal Music Tournament

Our battle of the mainstream frontman led us to this tournament. After the amazing recognition we were given from our readers for letting them pick the favorite we decided to listen to them and give them exactly what they wanted. We present to you a tournament of vocalists that do it for the heavy; or the metal; or simply the music.

To see how this tournament came about and the rules to how it works follow this link!

To see the full tournament bracket thus far follow this link!

Now listen to our arguments and head over to vote. Songwriting, Stage Presence, Influences, and Potential are the categories, but ultimately you decided on your own merits who advances to the next round and who wins it all!

Jeff Waters – he is called one of the founders of “thinking man’s” thrash. With that said his straight forward no bullshit lyrics deal with real issues faced by real people. To his credit, it is also rumored he has penned major hits under another name for pop and country stars.

Attila Dorn – his obsession with legends of lore sees the lyrics of Powerwolf heading in that direction. The obvious theme of wolves plays to Dorn’s love of the werewolf. The lyrics are very dark and filled with modern metaphors.

Jeff Waters – he sings, plays bass, plays guitar and that versatility sees him holding the stage as if born there. Annihilator has gone through lead singers with Jeff fading to the back, but the greatest of the band is those with Jeff fronting due to his charisma.

Attila Dorn – corpse paint, dark imagery, and fear mark one hell of a show when it comes to Powerwolf. To put it simply Dorn is the ringleader of one very scary circus. His presence at times can dominate a very theatrical show.

Heavy Metal Tournament Jeff Waters Annihilator

Jeff Waters – being Canada’s bestselling metal artist leads one to believe that Waters has influenced many more then he has taken influence from. He has been ranked in the Top 5 of all time guitar players in history countless times and Annihilator is Europe’s Metallica. Waters does the influencing.

Attila Dorn – fronting a traditional power metal bands shows you the influences Dorn carries with him each time he holds the mic. What isn’t told is Dorn is a trained Opera singer and he blends that well with metal to create the unique sound Powerwolf is becoming known for.

Jeff Waters – he is a megastar already and dominates the European market. Has he reached his potential? Hell no! Waters is still denied his rightful place in North American metal and that potential still needs to be reached.

Attila Dorn – although Powerwolf has been around since 2003 you have to feel the market is now ready for this new breed of power metal. The potential for Attila is off the charts and no matter what path he takes in metal it will work.

Go vote and put your favorite through to the next round.

Metal on,
