Here at We Love Metal we’ve talked about Project Mars before. As you may recall, we became instant fans upon getting a taste of their upcoming EP, Don’t Hold Back. Well, the six tracks of that long awaited disc are soon to become available and, let me tell you, you will not want to miss it.
Mars was the Roman god of war and it makes sense then Project Mars features music with a dose of violence and war. Not in the glorifying sense, rather in the gritty, all too real style of men trying to explain what combat is like. It ain’t pretty. Project Mars isn’t holding up war as something to be revered, they are holding up the bravery of those who fight for a cause.
The album isn’t all violence and war, there are some tunes on here which feel more like hard rockin music for music’s sake. Polished, powerful, beautifully crafted hard rock the way it was meant to be played. The guitar work on this EP is outstanding and the first track in particular, “Push’N” is Canadian hard rock at its finest. We also have some great sounds coming out of the group’s song “Break Down (The Walls)”, which I highly recommend for anyone who is looking for some motivation in their day. Listen to this before you head out to work and you’ll believe you can accomplish anything!
It may seem like Martell and I can’t stop praising these guys and the reason is simple: we really dig their sound. It’s not often I get this excited about the lyrics and message of a heavy rock/metal album, but Project Mars has really hit one out of the park with their album Don’t Hold Back. Be sure to give it a listen.
