Lion's Share:
Chewed on by Lion's Share
Have you ever just heard something and started to cry. I don't mean the cry like you found out your wife just slept
with someone like David Lee Roth, but the cry of coolness when you found out your wife slept with someone like Vince
Neil. This is the cry I let out of me when I heard Lion Share for the first time. They are incredible.
What spawned my love for this band was actually my ignorance. During an interview with Bruce Kulick Lion Share came up
in conversation and I stated they weren't doing much these days. Well Lion Share managment wanted to prove me wrong and
sent out some band material and asked us to review it as the band was busier then ever.
I'm so happy that happened because Lion Share is one of my new favorites. Vince and I couldn't believe how much they
sounded like Metal King Ronnie James Dio and as you know thats never a bad thing. They released and album in 2009 titled
"Dark Hours" and let me tell you: FIND IT AND PLAY THE HELL OUT OF IT!
You can find songs over at their myspace.com/lionsshare. When you hear
songs like the strong "Judas Must Die" and "Heavy Cross to Bear" you will be instantly hooked. Then you get into the much
darker and deeper sound of "Phantom Rider" and "The Bottomless Pit." Lead Singer Nils Patrik Johansson can hit that high
note and then bring his voice right down to the evil demonic sound that makes them true Power Metal.
On guitar your going to find Lars Chriss and bass is Sampo Axelsson. These guys create a sound together that at times may
sound similar to other acts, but when you get into the notes of slower tempo "Edge of Razor" you see their true talent. Not
to mention Stefan Norgren banging away on the drums in a manner that would do any Heavy Metal fan proud.
Lions Share has been around since and 1988 and come from that long tradition of Swedish Heavy Metal. Vince and I have given them
a few listens as stated above, but I kind of held it back from Heavy Metal Momma and Morgan so here ya go ladies. Enjoy it with
our readers and give that expert commentary.
For once in my life ignorance has spawned something great. Lions Share is one of my new favorites!
