Heavy Metal Blog: Heavy Metal Radio

Heavy Metal Radio In Our Home
Heavy Metal Radio Let me be clear from the very beginning, this isn't going to be facts and I can't guarantee you will come out any more enlightened then when you went in. So make the decision if you don't want to read about me complaining about the lack of Heavy Radio in rural areas this might not be the blog for you.

As you can tell from the first paragraph I live in a rural area and what they consider Heavy or Rock radio here has "The Who" on every second hour and "The Guess Who" on when "The Who" aren't on. No disrespect to those amazing bands and their accomplishments, but not exactly the type of music I'm looking for when I'm searching the dial. What prompted this little blog was the fact that the Classic Rock station down here did "Dirty Deeds" by AC/DC and followed it up with "Go for a Soda" by Kim Mitchell. How the hell did you program that?

I am the first to say that I hate genre confusion, but come on. Kim Mitchell and AC/DC? If you can't tell the difference there your tone deaf. In any business you sell a product that the consumer will purchase because they enjoy it. If I was selling cars and then all of a sudden snuck a scooter in I think the consumer would be pretty upset. So why can they do it in radio? How can you go from pounding drums and guitar riffs to keyboards and lollipops? I know in the larger centers this isn't an issue because there are many genre-based stations that cover what you want to hear, but here in stick land you have two classic rock stations that play what I'm so damn upset about.

An easy solution would be to have a specified show during specified times that gave groups of people the music they enjoy for a set period. That doesn't sound that hard to me. I think the current path of small rock stations is going to be their death simply because as I learned in business school: "you can't be all things to all people."

If you do feel the need for real metal radio check out Good Time Metal Oldies . It's a station by a friend of the We Love Metal Team - Jason Saulnier. It will fill the need.
