Feeding Affliction
Feeding Affliction
I'm doing my metal blog on a band from Syracuse NY, I like saying Syracuse - its kewl. The guitarist Matthew went on a hunt looking for the best kick ass players he could find. The front man, Eric, was doing karaoke one night in a club when he was discovered by Matt. So there, it goes to show that if you're pretty good (or awesome in Eric's case), don't get loaded and sound like a moron b/c you may just have ppl watching and looking for someone like you! :-p Matt also teamed up with long-time friend, Oscar, who also played drums.
So they thought they had finally had a win in 2007! However the bassist decided to leave before their record was to be finished. They then found Jason through a mutual friend, et voila!
After Jason joined they started to go in to a whole new direction with their music bringing a hard aggressive edge but with a melodic, accessible sensibility being brought to the table. This gave them new energy and direction. Things happen for a reason and even though they went through some hard shit thinking that it was all for nothing, so close but so far away, they ended up having everything fall in to place. Yay!!
Finally in December 2009 the band put together a 5 track self-titled EP! You will be able to pick out some of the aggression and familiar sounds from such artists like Tool, Incubus, Staind among some others. You guys have got to hear their sound it is awesome. I love the soft slowness, which then works in to aggression as in the new song "Betrayal". I can feel the strength in their music and their lyrics. What I did was go to their
myspace and I shuffled with continuous play as I surfed and chatted with friends. By the time 1 hr went by I was humming along with the tunes and then shortly after that I was catching myself singing a few words here and there. When I realized what happened I also realized that I really liked them and wanted to hear more the next day. Another kewl thing, when you visit their myspace page you will see these sexy guys in a video and singing their rendition of the theme song for Fraggle Rock, something I watched when I was a kid. I liked the new twist to it.
And then I youtubed them and not much came up at all except for them singing Harry Belafonte's song Day-O. Haha that was different! I bet if I listened to these guys while driving I would find myself screaming along singing through my gritting teeth and all. You know, even my kids would probably understand and not think I was a Freaktard. I just get in to music and enjoy it immensely when I like it. Speaking of their music, they have sent us a link for a listen to their song "Ordinary Day" I fucking love that song. > See the link below for your free download!
Just need to add before I wrap up here that they've been generating a buzz in upstate NY including opening for notable bands Stemm and Rev Theory, and will soon be opening for Smile Empty Soul and Soil. These guys are not stopping any time soon!
So here ya go, below is the info we were sent and I'm going to post it so it can fill in any blanks and point you in the right direction if you want more info on them!
>>Update - I just got my CD in the mail today *eeee!* (I do that when I'm excited) and have been playing the shit out of it already. Awesomeness
Feeding Affliction
Feeding Affliction EP
(Release Date - March 11)
About the EP
Feeding Affliction entered the recording studio in December of 2009, teaming up with renowned recording engineer/producer Jason "Jocko" Randall whom also tours with national recording artists John Brown's Body as their audio engineer; the band put together a 5 track self-titled EP at MoreSound Studio. The final result is electrifying, mixing the aggressiveness of artists like Tool and Killswitch Engage, with the atmosphere of Deftones and the melodic soaring choruses of artists like Incubus, Breaking Benjamin and Staind, Feeding Affliction has proven they will not fade quietly into an industry of cookie-cutter pop artists and washed-up cover bands.
