Billy Talent Concert Review:
Billy Talent Does Halifax - The Review

We (Martell and Morgan) attended the event at Halifax's Cunard Center and let me tell you it was an experience. For those who have not been in the
Cunard Center just think of a big ballroom that was gutted then Fred Durst blew up in. Exactly, not the best concert venue ever, but it served the purpose
for last nights show. With around 3000 in attendance, here we go.

At 8:10 Canadian Punk Hardcore act Alexisonfire grabbed the crowd by their collective balls and tore through their well known hits
and songs they described as personal to them. With the screaming vocals of George Pettit, Morgan was having a hard time digging the
band until the angelic voice of Dallas Green took the mic. For me and Morgan ballad like song "Northern" was the absolute highlight.

When the band played their new hit "Young Cardinal" the crowd was worked into a frenzy and I must admit we were surprised
by how dedicated their fans are and how they knew every song, even those not receiving a lot of play time in commercial settings.
George ripped his shirt off somewhere through the set and the crowd was trying to kill themselves to get the sweaty garment. A great set
from some fine Canadian talent that lasted about 60 minutes and made your senses hurt when they were done. Great stuff.

Now it was time for the main event. Billy Talent came out on the stage in pitch darkness and when the strobe lights came on let me tell you
the description of the sound from the band and the crowd escapes words. Ben screamed and the crowd collectively sobbed, screamed, and showed their
horns. "Devil in Midnight Mass" started us off.
From this point forward we ripped through song after song from "Fallen Leaves" to new one "Saint Veronika." "Rusted from the Rain" was in there.
Actually to make this easier how about you guys think of your favorite Billy Talent song and I guarantee you it was in there. With the combined
talents of Ben, Ian, John, and Aaron it was a Talent fans dream come true.

The best part of the evening was seeing Ben's interaction with the fans. He thanked Halifax for Sidney Crosby. He asked who should win the Juno
with the crowd obviously on the side of Billy Talent Ben felt this would be Alexisonfire's year. Ben had the crowd booing at the likes of Nickelback
and Justin Beiber. I will admit I never thought I would hear the name Justin Beiber at a Metal concert.
That interaction made for a great night and I'm sure Billy Talent will continue to go strong. With the average age of their fan base I would say
they can come back to Halifax for many years to come.
We will have all the pictures up in the next couple days.
