Heavy Metal Blog:
Ace - Back In The New York Groove
March 20, 2009
I could do this blog on Ace Frehley the legendary guitarist of KISS, but lets be honest, that has been done to death. You have heard of his accomplishments, his issues, his bobble heads (thanks Gene) so there isn't much more that I can cover.
Except my favorite Ace song ever, "Back in the New York Groove." Amazing lyrics, kick ass guitar, and coming from a true legend to our brand of music (yes, Heavy Metal). Ace performed the song on his 1978 self-titled album. It was one of the four solo albums that KISS released that year and in Vince's opinion the best of the lot. Something I learned was it was actually a cover of the British band Hello's "New York." The song was made famous by Ace and actually climbed all the way up to #13 on the billboard charts. Check out it out in the video section.
Ace is still going in a solo capacity; in fact he has a new album called "Anomaly" coming out very soon this spring. He has been touring all over the world with his new "clean and sober" way of living. As long as he plays "New York Groove" I'll be in attendance.
